Starlight 06:23
No use closing the curtains The sunlight is going to break through the door anyway When you've come through the night you're uncertain Have you held on to your dreams Or chased them away? So you've come to seek refuge in the darkness That encompasses a day That has recently gone away But the angels have all left your house In a hurry And now it's just you and your prayers Now there's a rest for your weary heart Slip down the mask Let the threads apart And reach for the pain And then tear it out You've got starlight What more could you ask for tonight? When you open your eyes up to welcome the morning Have you not had the feeling that an era had passed? The warm fuzzy feelings have eloped with your fears And left you with a careless heart So you've come to seek refuge From the things that you know In familiar shapes in the darkness Soft words in the dusk's final glow And the last few hands grasping for your touch Are now letting go Flipping on through the channels But there's no one I know Letting it sink in that you were right You've got starlight What more could you ask for tonight? Now there's a rest for your weary heart Slip down the mask Let the threads apart And then reach for the pain And then tear it out You've got starlight What more could you ask for tonight?

You nearly drowned I nearly saved you You came back to my house last night As a ghost You came back to resolve the issues We should have left alone And I no longer want to hurt you No longer want to see you dissolve Into the night Just as long as when you're going You can give me back my peace of mind You see The trouble with me is that I'm not sad The lord does not come to the rescue You can sit here every night Be contemplating the formation of the stars But here we are Alone on earth And there are a million stars out there You could have had it all You should have had it all And I shouldn't care You see The trouble with me is that I'm not sad And there are the times When the quiet settles in And I see messages in shadows on the walls And though I couldn't see it all I've seen your face Forgiving as your eyes can be They still chase sleep away from me Until the morning comes and sets me free You see The trouble with me is that I'm not sad So hope is gone And there's nothing left in the bottle I just throw it in the sea And hope somebody rescues it before me When I close my eyes I can't almost imagine anyting No, I can't see that clearly anymore You see The trouble with me is that I'm not sad You nearly drowned I nearly saved you

In my dreams Words became mountains And lyrics were like trains Crossing the city at night But when I woke up Words became pebbles And lyrics were toy trains Running in circles In a little boy's airplane I opened my eyes Brought down to earth By invisible lights Throwing strings of verses at me Flashing couplets in my mind For me to bind

Soothsayer 05:56
It's like the end of the world And everybody's out for a last drink And I've been running in the streets with no coat And no mercy And I've been trying so hard Not to pay any attention To the billboards saying it's the last confrontation Screaming from the top of their lungs Like there is no louder fashion And I say they should all go home They should all go home Or they should all break bones They should all go home Or just let it go I've seen the revolution on TV And it bored me I've seen the revolution on TV And it go me thinking What if I was to come out to the outside? Would there be sunrise or sundown? And where has everybody gone? Must have been tipped off better than me Went down to the city for a last cup of coffee Now they're climbing to the subway cars And everybody's suddenly gone to the islands That's where the flood will get them first But I stay here and I got no accusations I have no resolutions And I have no further patience I'll keep looking for the fatals But for now I'll just keep my hand on the petals Hope I end up with the right one See, I've seen the revolution on TV... Send me your love in a bottle I'll see that it gets on my desert island I'll send my response right away with express mail As long as I can figure out exactly where the plane crashed If you have any thoughts that you would like to convey I have no objections that you stay But you'll soon go away They all soon go away It's a world of fast movement A world of fast movement And stillness creates disarray I've seen the revolution on TV...

If something penetrates my skin I'll swear I didn't feel a thing But reality can be so strange and obscene So come on Come on Leave the happy feelings alone If you come with me I'll show you a palace Where the flowers in the garden Grow in brighter colors And everything is so grandiose So come on Come on Leave the dull gray world on its own But you'll have to swear You won't come here Alone Again Tomorrow Because the euphoric feeling I've shown you Are borrowed And the angel that comes in my dreams Will not come out If I set one foot in And one foot out If the angel of death Comes to pay us a visit You'll have to flee While I try to appease him But other than that we are safe and sound So come on Come on Don't waste so much time in the clouds There are so many places Dimensions to unfold Limits exceed everything we've been told But true redemption comes from within So come on Come on Skeptics do not grow on wings But the Orpheus in all of us will not come out Unless we say three words Like I don't know Please let me go So help me God So hurt me God I dream Spoken word part: And I have dreamed, and in my dream, I've seen an army of a thousand cherubim, who disappeared, and reappeared beside a chair as high as everywhere at once, and in between, a voice had intoned, "don't look down." But I am only human, and I looked, and underneath my feet, I could see all of the mountains and the fields, and the thousands of people walking around... "And now," the voice had said. "A final test - you will now plummet down, but have no fear, for we are holding you from here." I did not have time to protest, and not another second passed, the clouds have gone, the mountains and the fields now loomed ahead - and I knew that I was protected, well embraced in a time of dire need, but I am only human, so I screamed...

There' nothing in this wilderness Let's go away somewhere important Anywhere less bleak than this Let's go somewhere we can have our way Terrorized entrepeneurs Fled from our embrace at sunrise Now that we are vagabonds Let's revise our search for promised lands Just don't forget about me I'll be standing on the waterfront Throwing stones across the water Hiding from the rain and the debris Just don't forget about me Don a smile upon your face A warm embrace Don't let the tears evacuate your eyes for free Yours is a fire that will never be put out A heart I will have to do without I'll just keep my mind on the road ahead And not on the mess behind And I'll keep the advice and the warning You gave me On the back of my mind Somewhere in this wilderness A voice I hear reminds me of you Close my eyes and think back On the things we used to do when we were free Just don't forget about me... Somewhere in a foreign place A neon sign lights up my nights The thought of you is keeping me awake Hovers, rushes through me Staring at the newsprint Thinking of the words that will survive my obituary Just don't forget about me

If I could just help someone I guess it means that in some way I was also helped And I could just reach someone I guess it means that I am held as well And I'll always look for turning lights in mirrors And I'll always look for lightning bolts in the sky I wonder why Whenever darkness settles in Nothing in the pale compound seems white I know the ways of the sunrise I know the ways of the sunrise I know the ways of the sunrise And it will soon emerge Because nothing ever fades away It always stays so vivid in the background Nothing every fades away I think I better push it to the foreground And I will always have to say That while I can't wipe nothing away I'll always contemplate On the sadness of the remaining day I know the ways of the sunrise... The strobe lights Interfering with my silence Interfering with my loneliness The way the night always seems To turn too bright The way the night always seems To turn too bright I know the ways of the sunrise...

Let these yellow roads keep spreading Because I don't know where I'm heading And the streetlights are misleading And I'm aching to go home Every streetlight's a desire That has never been fulfilled And they're jumping over bridges They're immersing in the water They will never be revealed Into me they are concealed And the keys to my survival The keys to my revival My fears Darkness soon will overcome the earth Stirring everybody into sleep deprivation And as the sun will move across the skyline Washing everybody down To sleep I still have my promises to keep There is peace right in the end of this A sealed tomb at the other end of the horizon And as the demons vanish in the air And voices muffle in the stratosphere I have still something to keep my eyes on And the road will bring my defeat Because it's getting so hard to walk On these two straw feet Let the rain come down Let the rain come down And wash right over this city...
